Homemade Cough Syrup

Cough Syrup  (for allergies, sore throat, and cough)

3 TBS Fresh Lemon Juice or Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
1/4 Cup Raw Honey
2 TBS Extra Virgin Olive Oil (you can use Coconut Oil but it does solidify under 76*)

Mix altogether in a pan on the stove and heat at lowest temperature possible just to melt coconut oil and honey.  Take off heat and make sure you mix it well.  Store in glass container.  As it cools it will become solid.  Take by the spoonful as needed.  After the duration of the illness store in the fridge for up to a month.


Another cough remedy is to drink fresh pineapple juice.

Natural deodorant spray or solid deodorant

Super Simple DIY Spray Deodorant
This is my FAVORITE deodorant recipe!  Many antiperspirants and deodorants contain lots of toxic chemicals....here is a safe and effective way to solve the issue.  It will not stop you from sweating, sweat is a normal body function that allows your body to release toxins.
Ingredients
  • 2 oz glass spray bottle        
  • Witch hazel
  • 1 tablespoon magnesium oil
  • Pinch himalyan salt
  • 15 drops lavender essential oil
  • 5 drops frankincense essential oil
Instructions
1.  Put salt and oils in your glass spray bottle, add the magnesium oil and fill the rest of the bottle with witch hazel. Shake and spray. This deodorant has a shelf life of about 6 months.
Magnesium oil: Low magnesium levels in the body have been associated with body odor.  It is estimated that over 80% of us are deficient in this mineral.  Magnesium oil in this deodorant recipe absolutely decreases armpit odor no matter how much you sweat.
Witch Hazel:  I use this as my deodorant base because it naturally soothes and cleans the skin without upsetting your natural moisture balance.  It doesn’t irritate my skin (in fact it feels great) or dry it out.  I use this brand.
Sea Salt: Essential oils won’t mix with liquid alone so I add a pinch of sea salt to allow the essential oils to bind and mix well in the recipe.  Use a real salt like this to add some trace minerals to your deodorant.
Glass bottle:  Essential oils should not be used in plastic bottles, so use glass instead and save yourself from all the nasty chemicals in plastic.  Whatever you spray ON your body ends up IN your body so let’s keep it clean and green!

Using  a natural spray like this instead of using an antiperspirant, allows toxins to be released and is packed with healing ingredients.  It only makes sense to me to not put chemical filled products that block you from releasing toxins out of your body.   I think it has a lot to do with breast cancer.   Think about it.   Block your pores from doing exactly what they’re suppose to do and do it with chemicals....bad mix.

Green Smoothies

One day in 2009, I was making a smoothie and thought ....."I'm going to try to put greens in here, why not?"  So I added spinach in.   Weeks after I started making green smoothies, one of my friends came to my health store and asked me if I had heard of Green Smoothie Girl....I said, "no but I already make green smoothies."   So I always tell my kids I created green smoothies😍.  Smoothies are a great way to get awesome nutrients into your body.  They can be very simple or more complicated depending on what you want to put in them.  You can make them thicker or thinner depending on your preference, and can make them like ice cream.  I highly recommend getting a good blender.  I love Vitamix, Blendtec, and Nutribullet is great for small quantity blending.  I love to get frozen fruit from Costco and preferably Organic.
Here is a good basic smoothie guideline.....

Besides plain water for my liquid base, sometimes I use my homemade kombucha.  I use about 4-5 cups of liquid for 64 ounces of smoothie.  I will also put green powders (I like Dr. Mercola and Dr. Axe's), moringa, and Green Smoothie Girls bone broth powder is an awesome addition.  Adding coconut milk powder in is also really good.....I add 1/2 - 1 cup for every 64 ounces of smoothie.   I also sometimes add organic rolled oats (not quick).  Adding protein or a healthy fat in will keep you full longer, I highly recommend adding a really good protein powder.  Rotating chia, hemp, and flax seeds is a good way to get different nutrients, and also rotating what fruits you use.  I love to use one or two bananas for every 64 ounces, and if you like a more icy cold smoothie, keep frozen bananas ready to use. Ceylon cinnamon is something I regularly put in.    I also add Oceans Alive drops into each of my kids cups, as it is really good for them and especially for their brains.   Like everything else, it takes practice and finding what works for you.  Changing the way you eat is like learning a new language.  Add what you can handle and do what you can and be proud of yourself for the positive changes you make.  When I first started changing my food, I went full force and it was very overwhelming for me and my family.  Add what you can a little a day at a time without stressing yourself out and eventually you will  have many healthy things in your life.  You are worth it and your health is priceless. Love yourself through the process, and have fun.

Natural Healing & Positive Vibes for Your Life

Once you have learned how to enter your inner kingdom, you have a special retreat within that is always available to you.  Your soul-that inner quiet space-is yours to consult.  It will always guide you in the right direction.

When I woke up this morning, I felt I needed to share some of the things that have and do help me in my life, many of them in some of the darkest moments of my life.  They are very powerful and very close to my heart.  I suggest going through these and make your own notebook of whatever stands out to you.

Of all of these, meditation has become my ultimate favorite and has changed my life.  Wayne Dyers meditations turned on a light bulb for me and changed my life forever.   Wayne Dyer suggests five minutes before going to bed, instead of reviewing bad things that have happened that day, to instead go over your I AM statements and your intentions and what you want to manifest in your life.  He suggests keeping this by your bed written or on a sign......"I am going to use these moments to review what I intend to manifest into my life."   Going to bed at a healthy time every night, is sooooo important.  Sleeping is the time for your body to heal and repair.  Our bodies are amazing and when we give them what they need, they will repair and heal.

This is one of the most powerful things I do besides meditation.....
*I do a Thankful Journal every morning while I drink my tea or coffee..... I write down all the things I'm thankful for including things I want that I write I'm already thankful for having them.   Second I do I AM's, and third I write LOVE in the middle and write down every positive word or things that come to my mind.

*I drink clean pure water as soon as I wake up, I don't drink my water with food, and drink it about 30 minutes before I eat.  I also exercise before I eat anything, while still in a fasted state.   I start eating at 9 or 10 A.M. and stop eating by 5 or 6 P.M., (Intermittent fasting) it gives your body time to cleanse and repair and heal, and weekends I make more flexible.  A green smoothie a day is an awesome way to get nutrients in your body.

*Taking a salt bath with Epsom Salts or other detoxifying salts like Dead Sea Salts or Himalayan Salts and putting high quality essential oils in your bath is an awesome way to regroup if you are feeling off.  It's also said that 4 cups of Himalayan salts in a bath for 30 minutes is equal to a 3 day fast.  With the New Moon being an optimal time for minerals to be absorbed and the Full Moon is optimal time for detoxification.

*Walking, yoga, stretching, & rebounding are my favorite exercises.....deep breathing and get oxygen and flow to your body is priceless.   I love to walk outside or jump on my rebounder if the weather doesn't allow for 30 minutes, or do my stretches or yoga.  Exercise smart not hard.  Be kind to your body and to yourself.

Meditation (which you can get many really good guided meditations on YouTube for free, EFT (search Brad Yates on YouTube...he has lots of different categories for free), EMDR by a trained professional, HYPNOSIS by a trained professional (also some really good free ones on YouTube).  These are all the natural ways of healing that I know of that work and rewire the brain to undue trauma.

Coffee .....what? a post just about coffee.....um.....YES!

First of all I want to really specify that you need to buy organic coffee from a trusted source.  Coffee is one of the highly sprayed plants, so make sure you buy organic.  I wanted to talk about this today because I have tried to come up with the best mixture for coffee.  I have messed around with different things. After researching coffee machines etc., I decided to get a french press.  I like things easy, and simple.  You can also make loose tea in this.  I can't speak for other french presses but this is the one I bought and have loved it....   To hold the heat in after I add the water, I put a clean towel right over the french press....it keeps it hotter.

I grind my own beans in this & L💛VE the whole process from hearing it grind to the smell....SO YUMMY!


Add ground coffee, pour 200 degree water, stir, put lid on with presser up and let sit for 7-8 minutes.    Push the presser down and your coffee is ready!  An awesome benefit to the grounds is you can mix them with a little olive oil or coconut oil when they cool down and you have an awesome body & face scrub.

I just ran out of coffee in which I loved the brand above.  I'm now trying Dr. Mercola's Medium Roast coffee and got his grinder to go with it.  He has three different kinds, this is the one I chose.  You can get a single package or get a three pack.  Here is the link Dr. Mercola's coffee.  Update:  I am now trying Dr. Mercola's Dark Roast and love it too.


Organic Whole Bean Coffee - Mexican Chiapas (1lb): 1 Bag


Here is what I use.....


 1 TBS. Organic Coconut Milk Powder, 1/2 tsp. organic Ceylon Cinnamon, 1 TBS Maca Powder, 1 TBS Cacao Powder, 1/2-1 scoop of Green Smoothie Girl's Chocolate Bone Broth Powder, and one or two Organic Dates.  I blend this altogether for 45-60 seconds in my in my Vitamix  Um.....yum.....

Optional add ins... 1/2-1 tsp. Turmeric powder, MCT oil, Coconut oil.
